Question 4 of my Evaluation

Question 3 of my Evaluation

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

After creating my drafts for my magazine and DVD covers i decided that i needed to get audience feedback, to see if my products were appealing to my audience. I did this by creating a survey on survey monkey and asked people on social networking websites to answer them for me. I used pie charts and graphs to show my results from the questionnaires. Doing this made it easy for me to see the results that i had found and made it easy for me to use the data when finalising my products.
From this i discovered that the fonts needed to be changed slightly. I made these changes which made me feel like my products appealed to my audience to the highest standard possible.
I then decided to get more feedback once i had made my changes and asked people to comment on my blog. These are some of the comments i received:

For my final audiovisual product i posted my video onto my "Facebook" time line to collect feedback from my audience. I decided to use social networking sites as it was the most successful form of feedback from in my ancillary task.

The feedback method helped me alot throughout my coursework as it made gaining responses and peoples opinions extremly easy to collect and it was an easy process to construct.

Question 2 of my Evaluation

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Within my ancillary texts and main product i tried to create a brand identity using the conventions of children's television genre.

I used identical colour schemes within my magazine and DVD covers. I varied the colours slightly on my main product. Using blue, green and red helped me to create a brand identity as my target audience would be able to recognise these colours and automatically link to my products. Within my main piece i tried to continue using these colours. The yellow text and the green walls within this screen shot of my piece shows this. The image of the character with the red writing also shows that i tried to keep the colour scheme the same to make a brand identity throughout the three pieces.

The images that i used throughout the three were all very null. They were shot all on the same day. Therefore that made it a lot easier for me to create a brand identity as the clothing, hair and props, etc. would all be the same. Whereas if i had taken some of the images one day and the rest on another day, the characters may have looked different.
I used different fonts for each piece, however all of the fonts had a school like look to them all, which created realism and gave the audience something to relate to. The fonts all fitted my colour scheme though. Therefore the brand identity is still there.

I have created a slogan to go with my pieces. This is a simple yet effect way to create a brand identity as it automatically links them, just like Nike's "Just Do It" slogan makes you think of the brand immediately.

I believe throughout my three pieces i have created a brand identity that makes my products easy to connect together.

My ancillary task products market my final piece very well. The use of specific names makes the audience relate it to the show."Go backstage with Billy and Ace." The audience would then want to know what Billy and Ace were like, therefore they would watch the programme. The images and the posters could also advertise the programme as they are similar to each other. This would create more publicity for the programme, attracting people to watch it. The synopsis on the back of the DVD cover can help to create marketing as it gives the audience an idea of what is happening within the show. This could make the audience want to watch new episodes of the programme.

The use of different media types has effect how my product has appealed to the target audience. Magazines and DVDs are very stereotypical things that children want. Therefore having the items as these types of media makes it perfect for reaching my target audience as it will be available for them to purchase it if necessary. Using media types like the websites, wouldn't have worked so well, as not all young people have access to the Internet and even if they did, they wouldn't necessarily know where to look for the website, whereas magazines and DVDs are there, available for them to buy immediately without having to search so hard for them. Having DVDs can help the children feel more involved in the programme, series and characters through the bonus features. Watching this can make the audience feel as though the are watching hidden secrets, making them feel like a part of the programme. The same principle goes for magazines. Having posters, puzzles and interviews with the characters can make the audience feel like part of the group, involving them, making them feel interacted with the characters.

I would have my DVD and magazine advertised within similar products. Having them advertised on products that my target audience are already interested in makes it easy for me to reach my target audience. Here is an example of this. The Simpson's and Futurama are created by the same company, so to advertise both to the other viewers, they created an edition of the magazine that incorporated both The Simpson's and Futurama. This is the kind of thing that i would do with my products. I would link them in with other programmes that were from the same company.
I would have my television adverts also placed after a similar product to my own. Again this would make the audience aware of my own programme, hopefully attracting them to watch it.
